The European Commission has recently approved a new tax regime for the International Business Centre of Madeira, thus enabling new companies to be licensed as soon as the respective legal diploma is published and is in force.
It is therefore time to understand what has changed, with regard to former regimes, and which advantages it brings about to the structuring of international operations.
In general, in addition to being extended up to 2027, this new regime keeps the benefits of the current regime, including one of the lowest corporate tax rates in the EU (5%) increased by a few attributes that make it even more competitive.
With this authorisation, the International Business Centre of Madeira (MIBC) reinforces the credibility and stability of its regime, granting extremely competitive conditions for the optimisation of companies with international activities.
NEWCO has once again been distinguished as a Portuguese “PME Líder”, which stands for Small to Medium Enterprise Leader, an award that has been granted to NEWCO by the Portuguese agency IAPMEI – Agência para a Competitividade e Inovação, I.P. for the fifth year in a row.
The “PME Líder” award is a reputation stamp created by IAPMEI to distinguish the merit of Portuguese small to medium-sized companies with above average performance levels. It is granted in partnership with Portugal Tourism and a group of banks, based on the best rating notations and economic indicators in a specific year.
This distinction constitutes recognition of NEWCO’s rigorous and innovative management practices, and we are proud to be included in the set of Portuguese companies that stand out due to their growth strategies and competitive leadership.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Portugal in Spain, Mr. Francisco Ribeiro de Menezes, has promoted last week in Madrid a cocktail event to present NEWCO to a restricted group of businesspersons and leaders of consulting firms and law offices, on the occasion of the opening of NEWCO’s new office in that city.
The event was held at the Portuguese Embassy in Madrid and, besides being hosted by his Excellency the Portuguese Ambassador for Spain, it also received great support from Comendador António Calçada de Sá, President of the Spanish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce. NEWCO was represented by Miriam Fdz- Pedrera, Country Manager for Spain, Frederico Gouveia e Silva and Jorge Veiga França, respectively Managing Partner and Partner of NEWCO.
NEWCO opened a new office in Madrid in order to be closer to and better serve a growing number of Spanish clients that are internationalizing their operations through the jurisdictions where we operate, namely Madeira and Malta. We also intend, in the future, to increase the range of solutions offered to our international clients, through our presence in this market.
NEWCO’s new office is located in Paseo de la Castellana, nr. 18 – 7th floor.
